Jordan Henry Wants Your Kids to Skip School

Updated: Feb 20

Jordan Henry spent last week promoting the "Leave Our Kids Alone" (LOKA) call to "protest" public schools by having kids be truant on August 25th, 2023. First, he apparently took time off of work to attend a protest "march" in downtown LA and in front of LAUSD on August 22nd, 2023.

(We assume his kids will be at preschool as usual.)

Jordan Henry is currently running for GUSD School Board.

Jordan Henry, by his own admission, currently has no children in any public schools in California.

Despite weeks of promotion by the LOKA movement, GUSD attendance patterns were close to normal at most school sites.

(GUSD did not provide attendance codes, and many schools had likely students out with Covid given the current surge in Los Angeles County and the return to school on August 16th.)

Compared to the June 5, 2023 anti-LGBTQ protest, all but 2 of the 28 school sites in Glendale Unified had better attendance during this walkout. Overall, the trend was that this "protest" was less effective than the June 2nd one.

Most of the 28 schools listed had better attendance on August 25th than on the June 2nd walkout.

The same handful of schools that had the worst attendance on June 5th also had the worst attendance on August 25th.

Balboa Elementary, RD White Elementary, Muir Elementary, Marshall Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Toll Middle School, Wilson Middle School, Glendale High School and Hoover High School all had more than a quarter of their students out.

The highest-performing academic schools in GUSD had normal attendance: Rosemont Middle School, Crescenta Valley High School and the elementary schools in La Crescenta all had normal attendance levels, as did several other magnet elementary schools.

It appears that Aneta Krpekyan is an RD White parent. Ani Torosyan appears to be a Wilson Middle School and Glendale High School parent (based on publicly available information and/or their social media feeds.)

Aneta Krpekyan and Any Torosyan frequently post and give media comments as spokespeople for GUSD Voices/the LOKA movement: both showed up at the Glendale City Council Meeting on August 22nd, 2023 to promote the walkout as a "community event."

Prior to the walkout, there was an August 22nd protest "march" downtown from City Hall to LAUSD featured Nazi salutes from Narek Palyan, appearances by Jordan Henry, Manuk Grigoryan, Bryce Henson aka Ben Richards, Belissa CohenNarine Tadevosyan, photographer HASMIK BEZIRDZHYAN, and about 75 other anti-public education extremists.

Known extremist Shiva Bagheri was arrested (see below). J Emilio Martinez was also there (he was arrested on June 6th outside GUSD).

And finally, Jordan Henry reposting the call to come rally from non-GUSD parent Belissa Cohen.
